I've used Slackware & Red Hat.. I heard Debian is really good.. and I
want to try it out., but i'm confused about what directories I need to
download.. Do you make root disks / boot disks? If so which file I use to
boot & install install Debian.. But more importantly.. i'm not sure

a) ask them to add the needed item
b) ask them if update-inetd is ok, or if not could a better solution be found.

an entry in /etc/services. What is the best way to add a line
to the file? Currently I am using
update-inetd --file /etc/services --add 'xtell 4224/tcp # xt
I need to put together a kernel-patch package for devfs. Unfortunately,
the existing ones seem a bit confusing (to say the least)... Any
suggestions on how to set this up "debian-style"?

What is the safest way to remove a conffile from a package while
preserving the users' data? I think that I need to move it away in
preinst, but when testing it seems that that may not be needed.
