Paul, I choose this option: Version numbers in the file/directory names. I'll create a patch to fix it. Your personal favourite seems that the upstream author couldn't fix it (this isn't a excuse) but I think that is quick and easy. Also I'll follow the XDG basedir. Also, users expect not to
