Hi, I have the same behaviour, libheif1 1.15.1-1 works for HEIC files in geeqie and nautilus. After upgrading to 1.16.2-2, which also install this packages:
libheif-plugin-aomenc libheif-plugin-dav1d libheif-plugin-libde265 libheif-plugin-x265 geeqie fails with: warning: heif reader error: Unsupported feature: Unsupported codec, downgrading to 1.15.1-1 solves the problem.
