I used "dpkg-reconfigure xfree86-common" several times choosing
different options but I couldn't get X to load. I think it should work
with even the simple setting of ati xserver and a 17" monitor. Any
suggestions on how to get around a "no screens found" error? There's

Recently when I was upgrading sid system (ppc), dpkg complained
that locales 2.2.4-6 depended on glibc 2.2.4-6 but there was
no such file. In fact there is only libc6 2.2.4-6.0.1 now.
What is this libc6 2.2.4-6.0.1 and why there is no associating
locales?

IIRC, at that point, you need to point the installer

That would be rather difficult since xmon is a in-kernel debugger...

I'm sorry. I misunderstood you. The way to install the base system

Ah. I have these, and I've used them all (root, rescue, drivers-1, drivers-

I only have a serial terminal, and the ppc does not have a video card.
I have donwloaded several boot floppy images (starting fro Prep to

Are there disk images for the Woody base installation, can I use the potato

It's certainly an awful lot faster than a K6-II/500. I wonder if

In my experience, the Cube doesn't compare too badly with an Athlon 800.
YMMV.
I'll skip the rest and ask you to report pr

Maybe the program sends ist output to stderr? Have you tried "xmon foo bar 2>&1

Hey everyone,
I've written about this before, but I've specific questions now ;-)
I'm running stock 2.4.16, self compiled, on a Beige G3/266, with KDE as my
window manager. I get random crashes with any 2.4.x kernel. I would like to
use xmon to figure out what's wrong so that I can get it fixe
not sure if anyone else has done this yet, but i thought it was
pretty cool, so I'd pass it along. I've got an original iBook and
finally decided to install debian on it.
i've also got a usb ZiO multimedia card reader and I've successfully
booted MacOS from it so I thought I'd take a stab at
Hate to say it, but ancient Slackware was way easier to install.
That's from floppies to SCSI, doing video modes by hand.
I think the 486DX-25 was almost as fast as my Mac Cube,
and I'm sure my Pentium-200 running Red Hat 7 is faster.
I'll try to be constructive here. It's hard not to flame away

But after that, I saw, X felt back to 15 Bit and my screen was green.
How can I fix it?
I just went through this with a Powermac 8500 running 'Testing', and
