Now I'd like to set it up as a printserver for the home lan using an
old epson color inkjet printer (works more or less on my laptop with

Can anyone give me a quick shot at setting up a localtalk connection
Dear All,
On my 7200/90 running a 2.2.20 kernel, I recently upgraded from testing
Xfree 4.1.0 to unstable Xfree 4.2.0.
I did not modify my XFConfig-4 at all.
When I try to startx I have the following:
(II) FBDEV: driver for framebuffer: fbdev, afb
(II) Primary Device is: PCI 00:0d:1
(II)
Cher Jean-Michel,
suggestion.
Cordialement

Hi list,
I was running testing for a while on my ibook2, but a week ago I decided
to upgrade to unstable. Since then, most GNOME related icons (on buttons,
etc ) are broken: they are just little blackish boxes... This occurs only
in GNOME programs (galeon, gdm), not in GTK only programs

Where do you use the amount of battery left ?
+SPEEDMIN=`cat /proc/sys/cpu/0/speed-min`
+SPEEDMAX=`cat
I read:
Now, on the other hand, make sure your printer connection is _really_
Localtalk; I think I remember some of the Epson's simply running a
serial connection at some very high speed (like 230 kb/s or so...).
sorry I was obviously mixing up cables and protocols here , it's what

Sorry, but the
gnome-libs is broken on ppc.
You need to rebuild it after adding linpng2-dev in the Build-Depends
field of debian/control.
The packager is aware of this problem.
If you prefer you can download and install the packages I rebuilt
yesterday :

Meaning I'll need some way to distinguish between the interface versions,
or a minimum kernel version considered safe for a particular interface.
I'll add the code in question to the examples section in /usr/share/doc
for the time being, OK?
Just don't support the old interface, it's beeing
Thanks Christophe, I downloaded your .deb's. Galeon is usable again...

With the newest benh (2.4.20) I am unable to run make xconfig or make
menuconfig. This is a problem.
make menuconfig says I must have ncurses. But I do. apt-get reports
ncurses-base, ncurses-bin, and libncurses5 are up-to-date.
make xconfig complains about something in drivers/video/Config.in.

Well, with libncurses5-dev, make menuconfig gives me a menu.
But the menu breaks when I try to select the framebuffer menu.
And I notice that xconfig won't give me the advanced framebuffer menu,
and fails to set any framebuffer fonts at all. Hence make vmlinux fails.

False alarm. Cancel that. Sorry.
On the suspicion that *I* must have done something, I wiped my
/usr/src/linux (aka /usr/src/benh) and ran the rsync again. Problem
vanished.
As you were.
