I recently reinstalled debian on my iBook (12.1" g3 500, r128 video) using
the install24 flavour. After upgrading to sid, this left me with a working
system with the attached XF86Config-4
Now, on bouncing the kernel to 2.6.1-ben1 and installing
xserver-xfree86-dri-trunk (from http://people.debian.
depmod -V returns 2.4.15 (Changes says that I need 0.9.10), but then
it has a bunch of errors:

I'm trying to boot a 7200, with the following:
PCI slot 1: Crescendo G3 7200
PCI slot 2: USB 1.1 card (D-Link)
PCI slot 3: Radeon 7000 ME
the monitor is (right now) *not* connected to the radeon, but apparently I
can't boot the installer using BootX (just got a black screen).
I know that the cres

Hm, rsync'ed again today. The sources from
rsync.penguinppc.org::linux-2.4-benh still fail to compile with the same
problem, but the sources from

Hi all,
After compiling the new 2.6.1-ben1 kernel I do not have access to my USB
flashdisk anymore. Trying to mount it gives message: "mount: /dev/sda1
is not a valid block device".
Dmesg output: request_module: failed /sbin/modprobe -- net-pf-10. error

The kernel is a 2.4.20.
I updated from debian/stable to debian/testing and it seems the system
is leaking memory, put I can't pinpoint any specific faulty package.
Currently it's running top with a minimalistic set of running d
