I ran YDL on my iBook for awhile and had the same confusion when moving
to Debian. It turns out that pbbuttonsd can be configured to control
sleep, hard drive idle spin down and all sorts of other stuff. You
don't need pmud installed. Just read the man page and modify the config
file to suit.

have been using Yellow Dog for some time. I have been able to

Well, I mainly use it because my iBooks HD gets too hot these days. I
could'nt tell you how much battery it saves.
I use laptop-mode + cpudyn. The combination wo

Wolfi,
thanks for the info.
Isn't there a workaround for 2.6.7? I mean, how are the original kernels
built?
BTW, did you attach the patch? Maybe it got stripped off by the
mailserver.
Thanks,

Hi,
I've got an iBook G4 1 GHz, and I followed these instructions to
install debian :
http://www.twolife.org/debian/ibook.php (sorry it's in french)
I used the precompiled kernel from there too, but couldn't get the
sound working. Everything else seemed to work fine. I don't know if

Hi Jack !
Thanks for your answer, I tried, but it doesn't work. (Have a look at my
answer to Michael Dänzler, it seems that I don't have any xkb loaded). And
the Xmodmap solution is no more recommended by the developpers of XFree.
But if it would be the only solution, I would still use it !

Hello,
i'm trying to build myself a 2.6.7-powerpc kernel using debians tools on
my G3 ibook.
However, it bails on asm problems as shown in the following log. To
start slowly i'm using the original /boot/config-2.6.7-powerpc
configuration and debian's sources.
Command is:

Doesn't work for me here.
I did:
$ tar -xzvf torsmo-0.17.tar.gz
$ cd torsmo-0.17
$ patch -p1 < patch.diff
[patching went ok]
Hey Jack ...that's what I wanted to hear!
I guess even if it does stuff up then it's not too much trouble, but it's good
to hear that it all went straightforward for you; you give me hope ...I'll just
go ahaed and do it.
Thanks.
Peter.

Create in the home directories a .Xmodmap file in which you write:
keycode 115 = Mode_switch
and if you use gdm create a file named /etc/X11/Xsession.options in
which you'll write:

Hello !
I've installed (soon...) succesfully Woody on my Beige G3. But, as I have
a Radeon 7000 (VE) on it, I upgraded to Sarge, to obtain XFree86 4.3.0, to

I would even use evil-evil binary drivers if there were some. :/
