Serious problem with the tty terminal

Hello! When I switch to one of the tty text terminals I can't switch to another tty terminal with the quick keys. The only way for me to get back to X once I've got out of it is to kill the gdm process. I think I will solve this if I install the right package, any ideas? Perhaps there is a confi
