Question about compatibility...

I'm going to be purchasing an aluminum Powerbook G4 on which I want to run Debian. However, I'm trying to decide which model. Initially I was looking at the 12 1.5GHz model (M9690LL/A,) which is roughly on par with the laptop I have now, specs-wise, and that fills my needs pretty adequately.

I am running debian sid with stumpwm (used gnome before) on the 12 inch ibook g4 late 2004 which is a 1.2mhz. it runs fine as a nice portable laptop and they seem reasonably cheap these days. http://support.apple.com/kb/sp68 it is the ibook version of your powerbook and it is very nice with a

For what it's worth, there is a dedicated XFCE LXDE install CD for PPC in both stable and testing. Your mileage may vary but I've had better luck using the stable ISO which -- if you choose the advanced option -- will also allow you to choose to install a system from either stable, testing, or

Yeah, there's a couple different bug reports for this chipset reporting bad video relating to color depth, and they've been around since 2009 and 2010 :/ I think I might have to go with the 15 after all, based on this... https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=19714
