There should be no problems with remounting /home under Debian since you
probably use ext3 (given you use 8.04) and not ext4 which is AFAIK not
supported by Debian stable.

supposed to autodetect devices at runtime which
means that there is no need to define them in xorg.conf as long as
autodetection does it job well. You may modify xorg.cong if you wish
to override autodetection results.

is a decisive factor - i have heard reports of Beryl working on Radeon
7000.
Oh, and of course Beryl won't work on NVidia cards unless Noveau driver
devs have made some great
.42GHz but got performance
comparable with that of 100MHz CPU. I guess that user-mode emulation
won't be much better.

I'd personally recommend resolving all these problems using aptitude's
GUI. It is really useful when you need to investigate dependencies,
conflicts etc., a situation which happens often in Sid and sometimes
even in testing.
