German Keyboard under X 4.1.0 on iBook2

Hi, Xfree86 seems to work nicely (graphics, mouse) except that I simply cannot login, because no key yields the expected result! I'm using Woody (dist-upgraded from Potato). I tried a debian kernel image 2.4.8 and Benh's 2.4.12 Kernel and the debian xserver. On the console the keyboard is workin

The badblocks command found 3 badblocks at the very end of an ext2 partition on my ibook2. e2fsck could not fix them saying something like "out of reach. ignoring". I would like to know if this is a serious problem with my harddisk or rather a problem with the powerpc ext2 support or with the badb

does Yaboot really need first partition?

hello, do i really have to put the bootstrap partition before the first mac-os partition? i followed the "famous" instruction http://www.xiph.org/~jack/ibook/instnotes.html and have a bootstrap partition after my mac-os partitions. it works for booting via open firmware (boot hd:11,\\yaboot).
