(aka 3400 form factor). use a custom kernel 2.6.18-2
that i actually built last november for 3400.
seems the black screen i got trying to boot either
sarge or etch stock kernels before was related to
ramdisk. no ramdisk used in what i am booting n
t.
another far out idea is do you have enough RAM ??
because it is also used for caching/buffering besides
what the disk has built in. if you are short of
ram you will have to be doing much more disk reading
(even before you are swapping a lot). But it doesn't
sound like that was it for you.

Etch-Testing snapshot on my Rev-A G5 iMac on an external, bootable,

sarge, and my 68k experiments/exchanges, called

yes, using ybin, according to "man bootstrap" (man page is not always best in linix, but here it is, very good actually)and also mightconsider reformatting just the yaboot partition, with parted beforereinstalling yaboot with ybin (rather than the whole disk).caution: the write map command in part
