what i2c has to do with the sound stuff on iBook. But I havn't found any
information on that so far.

What machine are you using? What version of alsa? Just to warn you,
alsa is pretty unstable on ppc hardware, at least the newer laptops.
You're probably better off using the oss support unless you want to do
something more advanced than simply listening to music.

I noticed the following line in dmesg output:

Can somebody tell what's the problem here?
Well, sound seems to work - kind of. After unmuting the master with amixer I
can listen to some music. But I'm not able
