Hi, it seems that recent PowerPC netinstall ISOs have very long file names that are not properly burned to physical discs. Specifically, I've tried
http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/4.0_r3/multi-arch/iso-cd/debian-40r3-i386-amd64-powerpc-NETINST-1.iso Previously, i've also tried the PPC-only netinstall image for Debian 4.0 (no revision). In every case, I check the ISO's md5sum and sha1sum against the checksum files on the mirror. I burn the ISO to a physical CD, and the burning software verifies that the data is successfully burned. Then I mount the new disc, and run md5sum -c md5sum.txt in the disc's root directory. Md5sum complains that some files cannot be found, and navigating to the right places within the disc shows that the files have truncated names. $ pwd /cygdrive/e/pool/main/l/linux-kernel-di-powerpc-2.6 $ ls -1 * | grep -v 'udeb$' firmware-modules-2.6.18-6-powerpc-miboot-di_1.29etch3_powerpc.ud nic-extra-modules-2.6.18-6-powerpc-miboot-di_1.29etch3_powerpc.u nic-pcmcia-modules-2.6.18-6-powerpc-miboot-di_1.29etch3_powerpc nic-shared-modules-2.6.18-6-powerpc-miboot-di_1.29etch3_powerpc pcmcia-storage-modules-2.6.18-6-powerpc-di_1.29etch3_powerpc.ude pcmcia-storage-modules-2.6.18-6-powerpc-miboot-di_1.29etch3_powe pcmcia-storage-modules-2.6.18-6-powerpc64-di_1.29etch3_powerpc.u reiserfs-modules-2.6.18-6-powerpc-miboot-di_1.29etch3_powerpc.ud scsi-extra-modules-2.6.18-6-powerpc-miboot-di_1.29etch3_powerpc usb-serial-modules-2.6.18-6-powerpc-miboot-di_1.29etch3_powerpc I've tried Disk Utility on OS X, Toast on OS X, and Nero on Win XP, and all show the same problem. Any ideas how to get around this problem? Ideally, I would like to burn the multi-arch ISO so I can perform netinstalls on both i386 and ppc machines with a single disc.
