Yes, I am using BootX -- and starting linux from inside MacOS. I
upgraded to kernel version 2.4.18 as suggested by some others, and X
successfuly booted. After reading this, I tried booting into the 2.2.20
kernel and X started-up without a hitch.
Thanks for all of the help,
-Ian

Yes, that was my experience with an old 8500/180MP with a
imstt card. With a 2.2 kernel, the video card wasn't

Still can't figure out the problem -- I'm including the XF86Config-4
configuration file. My kernel is version 2.2.20, and the system is so far a
base install of Woody (3.0r0) in pretty much every way.

I'm running debian testing on a g3 233 beige with no problem.
I was running the Sarge version of Xfree and now I recompiled it to have
some graphic acceleration.
No problems, no bootx arguments...

I've got an old G3/266 (beige) on which I am trying to install debian. I
have an identical computer running the now defunct LinuxPPC -- but it
appears quite a bit has changed since I did that install. I've gotten
everything installed and running in console mode, but the xserver won't
start up.
