Some googling helped me find a workaround (not really a solution) to this
problem using the hpmount from the hfsplus package.
It was posted in January on the list, and though I was already subscribed, I
didn't remember it...

I'm very new to this list and so hope my question well matches the

I dont manage getting certain symbols (backslash, tilde et possibly
others) on my ibook2/debian/woody under Xfree4. I can get those
symbols on the console though.

Xfree86 seems to work nicely (graphics, mouse) except that I simply cannot
login, because no key yields the expected result!
