Control: tags 717154 + patch
It looks like there were serious changes to the VFS layer in 3.10.
The attached patch restores buildability and I'm reasonably confident
it is correct. It does NOT preserve buildability vs. any older
kernel.

Actually I was wrong, that patch does fix hsqldb-transfer,
hsqldb-databasemanager and hsqldb-databasemanagerswing, but not
hsqldb-sqltool and hsqldb-querytool, which still die with
ClassNotFoundException, because apparently SqlTool is now in the package
org.hsqldb.cmdline, and about QueryTool I don
