Subject: rrlogind: superfluous - RoadRunner no longer uses logins

Package: rrlogind
Version: N/A
Severity: normal

rrlogind should be removed from the archive.

The description for rrlogind says it is needed for authentication to
Road Runner, including in two areas of Ohio. Having lived in both
those areas, I can say that RR discontinued the login requirement in
those areas sometime before 2000.

I also know a former Road Runner network engineer, who recently
explained the purposes behind the login system, and said that RR
doesn't use the login system *anywhere* anymore.

Having the program in the archive could confuse RR users in the area
mentioned in its description, making them think they need it when it
won't even work for them anymore.

This package has been removed from Debian unstable because it has been
orphaned for a very long time and nobody adopted it. See
http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2003/debian-devel-announce-200304/msg00005.html
for more information.
