I just test with kde 3.2.1 from suse 9.1, and it fails too. I test with mozilla-thunderbird from sid, and it doesn't fail. So, I can tell without error that it's not a problem from debian, but from kmail. I see a similar problem here : http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79227 you can tag this
