"breeze" or "debian breeze" theme the little "eye" icon is hidden with
the default theme. Try clicking at the very end (right) of the password
field and you should be able to toggle password visibility.

Ah short report, why those patches are needed.
Without the patches all DB requests will pile up in RAM and Akonadi will use
more and more RAM with time. Keeping the query around in the caches cause them
to use insane amount of memory, if the last query happened to return a lot of
results.
