It looks to me like you have an incomplete upgrade. My guess is that the
problem is because your kdebase-data is old. I just upgraded today, and my
kdebase-data is version 4:3.2.3-1. kcontrol works fine for me.

I heard one other report of all menu entries going away during the 3.1.5 -
3.2 upgrade. After logging out and logging back in, they were back for

What video card is in this box? If the XFree86 video driver supports it,
try setting the software cursor option:
in the device section of /etc/X11/XF86Config-4, put

from 3.1.5 to 3.2, it changed how it integrates the Debian menu. It now
needs menu-xdg to create the Debian menu.

Unfortunately, you are using incompatible backports of XFree86 4.3 and KDE
3.2. The XFree86 backport was built against libfreetype6 2.1.7, whereas
the KDE 3.2 backport is built against libfreetype6 2.0.9 (the version
included in woody).

KDE 3.2 is slowly being uploaded to experimental. It may take some time
to show up there due to the many packaging changes, and therefore the
NEW status of many packages.
