Package: kdesktop
Version: 4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-2+b1
Severity: normal

When my girlfriend logs into her Chinese KDE, the new kdesktop uses most
of my memory and churns the hard-drive for several minutes before
hard-locking the box. My English account login gives no problem. I made
her problem go away by moving her .kderc and .kde out of the way (I can
make these available if there is interest). Needless to say, there are
many differences between our preferences, but the biggest one is
language and font selection. In her account:

$ locale
LANG=zh_CN.GBK
LC_CTYPE="zh_CN.GBK"
LC_NUMERIC="zh_CN.GBK"
LC_TIME="zh_CN.GBK"
LC_COLLATE="zh_CN.GBK"
LC_MONETARY="zh_CN.GBK"
LC_MESSAGES="zh_CN.GBK"
LC_PAPER="zh_CN.GBK"
LC_NAME="zh_CN.GBK"
LC_ADDRESS="zh_CN.GBK"
LC_TELEPHONE="zh_CN.GBK"
LC_MEASUREMENT="zh_CN.GBK"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="zh_CN.GBK"
LC_ALL=

Chinese support seems to generally really suck lately. Now all Chinese
characters are little square boxes. This all used to work, then it
stopped working quite some time ago and I changed her font selections to
get some Chinese characters displaying, but I was never able to get them
all back everywhere. And now there are none at all.

Hi,

You filed the bug http://bugs.debian.org/474714
in the Debian BTS against the package kdebase.

Debian has switched to KDE 4 in unstable and kdebase
does not exist in KDE 4. Therefore, I am closing this bug as fixed
in *unstable*. The bug will remain open for stable since it is
shipping KDE 3.5.

Ana
