KDE 4.8.4 is now in testing, so I think this bug is not relevant anymore. If it
doesn't hurt anyone, I will close it in a month.

I am not a developer/packager but a user just like you and I also
have the same thing. I think those issues will be resolved as and when
KDESC4.7 transition is completed and its going to take quite some
time.
