In the beginning of this year, I did some packaging work on two postgres
extensions. These are "pgsphere",
i.e. "postgresql--pgsphere", see
http://pgfoundry.org/projects/pgsphere/
and "q3c", i.e. "postgresql--q3c", see
http://www.sai.msu.su/~megera/wiki/SkyPixelization .
By the way, the current working copy is found on alioth,
alioth:/git/pkg-grass/netcdf.git
in the split-c-f-cxx branch.

With all due respect, I think you are pusing too hard on vtk6
transition. I may be very biased but for example support for VTK6 was
pushed in GDCM only weeks ago.
I do not believe that *forcing* for vtk6 transition will help people
move gracefully from one API to the new one. The step
