Thanks to Stuart's through work and expert opinion I tried out PyX today and was producing perfect graphs within a few hours for a paper I am writing in LaTeX.   This included installing python, eclipse, pydev, compiling the pyx module and getting them all to work together -- as a python newbie.  C
