ELC and Meta key

Hi, I've just recently installed Debian on an old ELC and I can't get the meta key to work. "setmetamode" reports "Strange mode for Meta key?" The keyboard is correctly identified as a Type 5 during boot. Has anyone seen this before? Regards, /Gunnar

strange ping behavior - bug?

This is normal. The -s option defines the payload amount, not the total packet size. The extra 8 bytes are the ICMP header. *From a sparc penny:/home/mike# ping -c 3 -s 1016 localhost PING localhost (127.0.0.1): 1016 data bytes 1024 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=0

When invoking the ping program with the -s option the packet-size is set to the option's value plus eight additional bytes. I'm running slink on a SPARCstation LX and trying to install some potato packages on it. Some work but many can't be installed, dpkg outputs a message saying "install-info: failed to lock dir for editing! No such file or directory" "dpkg: warning: old pre-removal script returned error exit status 2
