I've finally got a decent sparc (Ultra-10) box to run Debian on. I've been
playing
with Debian for years on the i386 .. and was most impressed with the way that
"things just worked" again, once I got rid of Solaris on this machine. I have
hit a

I've just installed potato on an old sparcstation IPC. I've set up my PC
running XFree 4.0.1 (SuSE distrib.) so it acts as the sparc's X terminal
(I just have the IPC box). It all seems to go ok, I get the xdm login

wdm is not looping. It is just dying, and when it dies, the X restarts as
it normally would when wdm exits because, for example, you exited your
session.
Basically, you have to find out why is wdm dying. From the error log
