I am the maintainer of gnucash and sparc is one of the architectures
that it will not compile correctly on (it compiles but fails on make
check). It is possible that the problem is actually with one of its
dependencies: guile-1.6.
I am looking for someone who would be willing to try to fix the
gnu
If you are compiling a kernel for UltraSPARC you will
need to be sure you have installed the egcs64 package.
This is the preferred compiler for 64bit SPARC
kernels. The default gcc will also compile 64bit
kernels, but is not as stable. Plus, if you do not use
egcs64 and you encounter kernel problem

Hello,
I'm having a hard time compiling a kernel (tried 2.4.19 & 2.4.20) with
built-in raid support.
with modification of some files i can get it compiled correctly (the "debian"
way).
But after modifying silo.conf and trying to boot the kernel i get
Data Access Exception at the boot prompt

Hi Ben,
is there any specific reason for this approch or is it just to
test the pkg before inclusion/merge/whatever?
Thanks

In case anyone else is doing builds of 2.5.69 or newer on sparc64,
here's an interim build of 3.2.3 that is able to compile newer kernels.
It creates /usr/local/bin/sparc64-linux-gcc and
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/sparc64-linux/3.2.3/*
You may need to remove egcs64 to get the kernel build to see the binary
Hello,
I am looking if someone has already compiled firebird/phoenix for
sparc32 (sun4m). I doubt my sparcstation5 would get me there in
reasonable time.
