Hi Tony,
I've tried your suggestions and the one about using fbset resulted in a
breakthrough. 'fbset -depth' gave no results, but comparing the output of
'fbset -i' from a working kernel and a new one gave me something to try.
From 2.6.8 kernel (working framebuffer):
mode "1152x900-66"
# D
I'm also going to read over those atyfb changes in the background and
see if I can figure anything out.

Ok. I'll have to find/setup a Solaris box for that. Almost all of the machines
here are Solaris except for one FreeBSD system and my U2 which is
currently running
NetBSD.
I had just gotten around to Chapter 4 of the D-I guide when your email
showed up :)

Having taken a look at the netboot images directory, I have the
following question(s):
Where are the instructions for doing a netboot ?
How do I get the boot.img onto a bootable CD ?
What else should go on the CD ?
I'm used to downloading an ISO image, burning it to a CD, and
Jurji,
I'm more then willing to help out :) I've not tried a netboot
image before. I've
only tried the businesscard images. I willl try a netboot image over this week
and report on how it goes.

Bad form to follow up my own post, but I was able to get past
this part!
Now I am stuck with the console apparently switching over to
"mono PROM". The last words I see are:
switching to mono PROM 80x34
Any ideas on how to get it not to switch?

I am attempting to install firmware on a SunBlade 100. I need
to first upgrade the PROM. I have tried a few different ways, but I
cannot make a CD (with the PROM) that the machine will boot. Does
anyone know how to repackage the PROMs into ISO images that the Sunblade
will boot?

Hmm. Not sure if that's the whole problem. I tried booting with
