only response that I can get is if the .netscape/lock file exists, it will
give the "already in use" error box (after which I delete it of course)
Any ideas?

rid of the NMIs? Or is it just a Sparc 2 thing?

It's not quite that obvious. You have to do the steps out of order and
setup the network before you mount anything.

close to working? Or do I need a patch?

I must just be lucky, as I never seem to have any of the problems
mentioned on the list :) But I don't have any problems with control-z on
my ss2.
I'm using slink straight from ftp.us.debian.org.

uploaded packages today, but they have the same problem.

Yes, I understand that it would still be using libc code, but if it's
statically linked, there would be no need to search for libc.so as the
code would be included in the binary at compile time. I was just trying to
eliminate it not finding the libs as a reason fo
ions, they exit with the error much faster.
Is this a known problem and is there a known solution?

With all that's been said about the SS2 and sun4c in general, I just
wanted to note that I've had no problems with mine so far. Once I found
where to download X (from the list archives), it worked pretty well
(though only as root, haven't looked why yet, but it's not the
/etc/X11/Xserver file). I
dy.net/pub/debian for now. I got a fair number of
warnings, so I'll probably look at them and the do a patch and become a
developer and mess with PGP and sign it and upload it (all in one breath).
It seems to work on my sparc2, YMMV. I haven't tested it hardly at all,

At least I think it's a new package, it's not on ftp.debian.org, anyway.
I have it at home.broudy.net:/pub/debian/ if anyone wants to test it out.
Is it appropreate to announce that to this list? How do I go about
submiting it to ftp.debian.org for the world to enjoy?

Sounds easy enough. Is there a centralized list of packages that are
higher priority, or are already done, or ones where the effort is
substantial and are in progress?
Dave Broudy
at is nessacary to
get any particular package to compile. Are the debianized sources
available for x86 packages so that I can just grab those and start
compiling?
Also, would it be worth my time to setup a cross-compiler on my 2x166 SMP
machine to compile things more quickly?
