Hello,
My colocated ultra1 has passed 260 days uptime so I decided to do an
apt-get update apt-get dist-upgrade.
While I'm working on it, I was thinking of upgrading the kernel from
2.2.20 to 2.4.19 (by grabing the 2.4.19 kernel source with apt-get and
compiling it) so I can use things like
the performance is
like.
Bye for Now,
Ian

hello,
I have installed the potato distribution 2.2.19 on a SparcStation 5
(sun4m) with 64Mb of RAM. It runs fine during the day, but on arrival at
the lab in the morning it is usually hanging.
Sounds like a hardware fault maybe?
My SparcStation 5-110 w/128mb is running fine with
Hello,
Trying to compile a native kernel (2.2.20 from cvs on vger) on an Ultra

Then got sparc64-linux-ld / as not found so I did:
cd /usr/bin
ln -s as
Hello,
I had the same problem myself. The solution (for me) was to modify
the
/usr/src/linux/arch/sparch64/Makefile
so that, instead of calling sparc64-linux-ld, it used
sparc64-linux-ld
-m elf64_sparc. You'll also need to make
sure sparc64-linux-as ends up calling as -m64 as well.
Glad
