I found Jesse Goerz/Kevin McKinley’s ‘Creating
Custom Kernels with Debian’s Kernel-Package System’ a great help. So
far the only thing I’ve needed to do was replace gcc with egcs64.
The rest of the instructions worked like a charm. (I hit a small arlan.o error
but removing the offending mod
I realise this has something to do with compiling this
kernel on a 64 bit machine but how do I go round it?
What is the arlan.o module that I’ve included but
shouldn’t have?

I’ve installed Shorewall on my Ultra1 running Woody
(2.4.18-bf2.4-sun4u).
I’m getting the following error message when I try to
start Shorewall:
“can't
initialize iptables table `mangle': Table does not exist (do you need to
insmod?)
Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be updated.
try 'disk'
btw the sun site has heaps of info on bootprom.
