Regarding Ubuntu, if you do not compile SILO with GCC 2.95 it will not
boot right on SPARCs because later compilers mistakenly generate
floating point CPU instructions not available during boot time. That's

surprising, as my Ultra 10 worked right in 2.4.xx and 2.6.xx, all the
way up to 2.6.10, which I cannot get to build for some reason. I have

Yes, I know this. Every time I find a problem with X they tell me to
just wait for the next upload. But:
1) X always FTBFS for me from the SVN repo. It takes hours to find out
it's failed. Every time it fails you have to start from the beginning
because it purges all the object files in the source
