kernel 2.4.x compile failure on Ultra 1

Hi folks. I'm having a problem compiling Linux 2.4.8 and .9 on my Ultra1 running sid. I've tried the debianized kernel-source packages, as well as the source from kernel.org, with the same results. The compiler error, which occurs pretty late in the build process, is this: sparc64-linux-gcc -D_
