Hello all,I'm trying to install Debian 3.0 on SUN Ultra 5. It has UltraSPARC IIi 360MHz CPU, one IDE hard drive 8.4 GB, and two SCSI drives 9.1 GB. I used installation from Debian CDs. All installation went fine, but when it was finished and machine rebooted, Debian cann't start.

Hi all, I'm having trouble installing latest debian (downloaded yesterday) on my Sun Ultra 5. I boot from CDROM then at the Silo boot i enter linux It seems to go but after a few seconds during boot up i got cramfs wrong magic Kernel panic.. Any ideas? thanks in advance manlio

It doesn't work with the stock CDs. There is a specially-built one -- see URL:http://wiki.debian.net/?SparcInstallationNotes -- but it's easiest to do a net boot if you can set up a rarp and tftp server. You can also install from the Woody CD and upgrade from that. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to
