Just for the record: debian-installer is not responsible for that. The
X.Org configuration is created by the X.Org packages themselves.

of KDE?

The cause is that the boot parameter 'desktop=kde' was not added at CD

Didn't I read that someone had successfully gotten openoffice (ne:
staroffice) compiled and working on powerpc? Often the mods
necessary for that are the same for porting to sparc, and vice
versa. Check out {penguin,linux}ppc.org. Also, I have used lyx

the kde packages for sparc woody are a bit behind...I just finished uploading
the last piece so it should be installable after the next dinstall runs.
