I have moved from an ethernet connection to ppp. I have a couple of
questions. I would really appreciate some help
1) pppd comes up on boot fine and I can telnet to a remote host as long as
I use the ip numeric address. When I use the word address
e.g. cus.cam.ac.uk instead of 131 I g
Is there a utility to take an AppleSingle file and strip out the
cruft?
Failing that, can anyone give me a pointer to a good description of
Apple file formats so I can write one myself?

PCI NE2000 cards are supported directly in kernels >= 2.0.34. In earlier
kernels, they work fine using the ISA NE2000 driver. Unfortunately some
NE2000 clones are more compatible than others. Mine (generic with Realtek
8029 chip) works fine with either driver.

Since upgrading to hamm, I've noticed the system reporting pathnames with an
extra / after the last directory name. For example:
% type ftp
ftp is /usr/bin//ftp
Also, my PATH is shown with / after each entry:
% echo $PATH
/usr/local/bin/:/bin/:/sbin/:/usr/bin/:/u
I have been juggling systems and removed a CDROM drive from my
Debian machine. I also had to replace the motherboard but don't
think that's the issue here.
Now when I reboot the scsi controller sees the scsi drives on both
its channels (its an Adaptec 3940 which has two channels).

Edit /etc/X11/Xserver file and put the name of the driver you want to use

I am trying to setup XWIndows with one of the configuration programs.
XF86Setup and
xf86config. When I configure with XF86Setup everything works fine but when I
type 'xstart'
I get an error message:
