I seem to recall seeing once that one of the package
tools (dpkg, apt, or another, I don't remember) could
save a package list that could later be piped as input
to return a system to an identical list of packages
with one command. Am I crazy, and if not, how is this
done?

I'm having trouble with GTK fonts on a
testing/unstable system. Basically, fonts in every
GTK-based (1.2) app come up as compeletely garbled.
I'm using XFree 3.3.6 (due to an old video card) and
xfs- I don't know if this is the problem. I'd be

Slightly OT, but how does one reverse those pairs in the ethernet cable to
allow direct connection? I'd be interested in connecting my notebook to a
desktop under my desk, but I'd rather not use a hub to do it.
