After m-a I have choosen the prepare option. It gave this output:
Getting source for kernel version: 3.16.0-4-amd64
Kernel headers available in /lib/modules/3.16.0-4-amd64/build
Creating symlink...
apt-get install build-essential
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Hans,
How do I do this when in the menu:
"This opens a ncurses interface. Check now, if all dependencies (kernel-headers
etc. ) are installed. Module-assistant does this for you."?
And can I do: "Then just install libgl1-nvidia-glx and nvidia-kernel-dkms"
with apt-get install as well?
Are you after this info:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF108M [GeForce GT 525M]
(rev a1)
?

What you described below is a bit of too 'over the top' for me.
Don't know exactly what to do by what you describe but will try to find out.
Maybe I will better first do a backup of data.
Thanks again,

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct
the problem.
Well, it seems I would be running in circles then.
Any other idea?

Maybe Devuan would meet your requirements of using the init system you would
like to use. It is not on Stretch yet but on Jessie.

According to the message I was also thinking it had to do with rights on my new

At last I found that the pointer to the backup directory was the problem. As
the external hard drive was already re/dicognized I entered the path from there

I re-installed Debian Jessie after making a backup of my home directory.
Maybe the hostname of the new installation is different from before.
When trying to restore my backup I get an error saying:

Hi,
I messed up my configuration by trying to revert a apt-get autoremove.
Finally I think I have a lot of broken packages / dependecies. Synaptic does
not start up anymore. I also use apt-get and I understand (now) this is a
problem for autoremove.
Anyway I think i can not solve this in a
I "solved" this problem by deleting the wireless connection and then adding
it again.

On Debian Jessie I have to add the gateway to be able to get internet over a
wireless connection. I do this by the command: "route add default gw
192.168.0.1 wlan0"
How to make the gateway available automatically on booting like it was
before?
