I have posted this on the compiz site, but seeing as how I am using the deb packages I'd thought I'd post here too.
Compizconfig-setting-manager or ccsm has no piratical functionality. No options when I click on the plug-in buttons with in the application. My compiz is working, but I can not change any settings with ccsm, I can enable and disable plugins but not set any parameters, such as number of terminal in a cube, My system is Debian (testing) and the compiz is the current package in that tree. I have removed –-purge and reinstalled it multiple times, my start up options are all specified in the compiz.real script. 5430 0.0 0.0 10824 1716 ? S 11:32 0:00 /bin/sh /usr/bin/compiz 5499 0.5 0.5 133284 23752 ? S 11:32 0:06 /usr/bin/compiz.real --ignore-desktop-hints --replace --indirect-rendering core ccp there are no errors when it starts up. If ccsm is started from the command line when I access or click on a plug-in I see: File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/ccm/Pages.py", line 1302, in ShowPlugin pluginPage = PluginPage(plugin) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/ccm/Pages.py", line 125, in __init__ sortedGroups = sorted(plugin.Groups.items(), key=GroupIndexKeyFunc) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/ccm/Utils.py", line 374, in GroupIndexKeyFunc return item[1][0] KeyError: 0 I have re-installed both ccsm and compiz numerous times. The last time I made sure that ANYTHING that showed up in Synaptic search paramater "compiz" was removed/purged then did a find for compiz* and deleted any directories or missed config files. As for versions: bl...@vivisect:~$ ccsm -v CCSM 0.8.2 and debians Synaptic is showing 8.2-6 for the compiz package I was hoping to stick with the deb packages just because I don't know understand how it all works. And I wanted to be lazy about my desktop.
