if it ain't broke...
It's not really Debian's policy to say bad things about Red Hat. The
people there are nice, they throw good parties, their system isn't bad.

sound card to the hi-fi to the cable-TV wire. Maybe you don't need
that, or if you want to keep it, get an isolation transformer for the
cable-TV wire.
Even after all of this, you might get zapped again.

that is what is happening to you. If that is the case, please remove the link

It's not clear to me how the system got this way.
Thanks

I have a write-protected jaz disk. There's a software command to
un-write-protect it under the supported operating systems. How does
one do this under Linux?
Other than that, the jaz works fine. I did a backup to it yesterday.
Thanks

Pauses usually happen because of re-training (modems stop to re-do
equalization and decide what speed they will use on the line). Matt's
suggestion to upgrade your FLASH (if possible) is correct.

is the CGI/perl scripts for common commands like 'who'. Why not start a
collection of these so the user can get some system information using the
same interface?
Sure. Want to work on that?

Linux is not using the BIOS hard disk driver in any case, you
should not use the BIOS hard disk timeout. I'm not sure if the hdparm
tool will tell a SCSI disk when it can spin down or not. You might
install hwutils and try that.
