I see everyone wants to know. Yes, I will include the Linux 2.0 kernel in the
latest boot disk set, which will be uploaded this evening. I also have a
kernel-image package, although I am not the official kernel maintainer.
Thanks
Bruce
Kernel-package seems to be in the project/experimental directory of the
archive. I don't know why...

There is a more up-to-date boot floppy set in
ftp://ftp.i-connect.net/debian/unstable/disks-i386/current . The file

We're going to build another kernel with an updated device driver. That
will probably fix this problem.

If it is - better move the distribution outside the US now, it only
gets worse. Not only something that was in the public domain may be
patented, you can also get in trouble if there is a four-letter word

It should be possible for sysklogd to check if a write is going to block

EAGAIN, the pipe is full. It's easy enough to tell if something is a pipe
or named pipe using fstat().

In general, I think the beta 1.1 installation lacks severely in this
regard. There is an item on the menu to add the modules. However, it
does not run correctly and gives a ton of error messages saying it
cannot find the /etc/modules file (when it is there!), and will not
allow the
mail (really only
a few subject lines that look as if they are related to the 1.1
installation). Thus, if there's anything important for me to see,
please make sure to send it to me directly.

Absolutely. If Bruce finds some time the dpkg and dselect ought also be
modified to show up a small WARNING message.
Those are Ian Jackson's programs.
P.S. Sorry I'm keeping a low profile on debian-user - I'm very busy
getting the release in shape and am unable to even _read_ all messages,

rawrite2 works fine on my wife's Windows 95 system. Perhaps it's a flaw

You must uncompress the boot floppy, but need not uncompress the root floppy

Chris,
My test-bed for the 1.1 install is a slow 386 with 4MB + 640K . This
machine has Linux installed on it several times a week :-) . The RAM
disk implementation in the new kernels uses less memory (it used to
have a RAM cache of the RAM disk). The installation tools on 1.1 also
use less RAM
