Hi,
What are the default file permissions for /dev/cdrom and /dev/hdc
on Debian? I want ordinary users to be able to access the CDROM drive
but at the moment, /dev/cdrom is readable by everyone but linked to
/dev/hdc which can be read by the disk group. What is the debian way for
this?

I have installed the Acrobat3 reader with no problems. Just
a warning message about:
Warning: charset STRING not supported, using ISO8859-1
which pops up when I start the application.

depends on gsfonts_4.01 and libpaper_1.0 or higher.
Where can I find these?

at some point in the past. In fact, they would continue to
work even if the sound module has been removed from the kernel!
--Derek Lee
Here is a more systematic account.
There are several situations:
(A) after power-on boot
(B) (A) + 'insmod sound' + 'rmmod sound'
(so that lsmod does
a plugin
library which is no longer distributed. You should in fact remove the
library (libnullplugin.so or something like that) from
/usr/lib/netscape/plugins if it is there.
Good luck!

I have Real Audio working on my debian box. I am running 2.0.0 kernel
which contains the appropriate Voxware sound driver. There was no need
to install USSLite.
Are your other sound utilities working?

CONFIG_PSMOUSE=m
which means that psmouse is supported as a module.
Unfortunately, I have not used these kernels so maybe you can confirm
this with somebody else...

not help.)
I have libc-5.2.18, and use bsdutil-3.0-2.deb package.

I saw some messages about kernel-package-1.01 in the debian-user list.
Where is it? I cannot find it in tsx-11.mit.edu or master.debian.org

Anyway, using the new kernel-package package, it's pretty trivial to
do it yourself.
I am afraid I am not familiar with the kernel-package

I found MailCrypt in master.debian.org, under the debian/Incoming

Is there a debian package of PGP2.6.3i?
(Is it located outside US? I have only looked at US ftp servers.)
ALso, is there a debian package for MailCrypt (Emacs/PGP interface)?
I found a package for auto-pgp, but it appears that I have to use
emacs rmail to take advantage of it...

I use ifconfig from netbase-2.02-1.deb.

How do I install these things now? I kept the /etc/soundconf file
from my old kernel installation, if that is any help.

Can someone who has successfully installed 1.1 tell me what they get

My installtion of 1.1 had an error message about not being

no /dev/ps2mouse (Module not loaded)
Can I do these by hand?
