I'm trying to upgrade from the 2.4.18 kernel that installs with the
bf24 flavor to hopefully a 2.6.1 kernel but at the very least, a
2.4.24 kernel. I put the zipped source code (i.e.
linux-2.6.1.tar.bz2) into the /usr/src directory, checked to make sure
there were no symlinks, and then did:
#tar
I reinstalled Debian tonight and now dhclient appears to be working.
I guess the problem was with how the ethernet driver was interacting
with the kernel. I don't know exactly what I did differently because
a friend of mine helped me choose what drivers to include in the
kernel last time, but I s

Ryan,
No need for apologies; it was late and part of the problem seems to be
that I was typing ext0 (which should be eth0 as you pointed out.)
However, even with eth0, dhclient is still not giving m
"dhcp"
at the suggestion of a friend, but this gives me the
same results. Can anyone help please?
