Hello,
I just switched to a self compiled 2.6.0-test4 kernel with devfs support
turned on and devfsd is running nicely.
On my old 2.4.20 kernel I did not use devfs.
Now when I boot into the new 2.6 kernel it starts up but throws tons of
messages like

Hi there,

is kinda uncomfortable because I also have a windows system running on the

Hello,
I am having problems with my Debian 3 unstable and my DHCP connection. I
use dhclient 2.0pl5-15 and it gets an address without any problem at first.
The problem comes in, when the lease expires. At that time I get
'receive_packet failed on eth0: Network is down'.

You might have an old version of initrd-tools and/or your file
/etc/mkinitrd/modules does not contain the filesystem modules you need.
In my case I have ext2 and ext3 in there (each on a separate line).
After modifying the file you have to run

Hi again,
thanks to the help of Jonathan Shipley I could solve the problem!
It seems that it had not anything to do with the old version of the
initrd-tools I used.
The problem came from the file '/etc/mkinitrd/modules' which was completely
empty in my case (except of some comment lines).

Hello,
I am fairly new to Debian (not to Linux though) and run into a problem with
the kernel update.
I installed the system from a woody CD-ROM and then upgraded the system to
the current 'unstable' release. So far everything went just fine.
Then I wanted to upgrade the kernel from 2.2.20 to
