Hello. I have a very peculiar problem with my Debian install.
It seems to me that Debian is not using my ram at all, because I can hear and
see a lot of disk activity happening, which could only mean that the system
is using the swap partition (size 2GB).
The net result is that the system gets

I have set up fetchmail, procmail and spamassassin to automatically delete any
spam I might receive, but now I'm not able to access my mbox file, though
Kmail is configured correctly. When I press the Receive button, Kmail deletes
the content of the mbox file. No errors are displayed at no time.
After realizing that I must enable loopback device, I configured Cups to use
my HP 656c printer. From www.linuxprinting.org I have downloaded the ppd file
and copied it to the /usr/share/cups/model/. The configuration went without
any problems.
I set up KDE to use Cups but when I sent something

Is there any difference in Debian if you install from debs or rpms?
I'm asking this because I have a rpm at home that's not installable because of
some supposedly missing dependencies.
If the procedure for installing a rpm is not the same then I need some xpert
help please.
Thanks to everyone

I have setup fetchmail to get my mail from my two pop3 accounts and to be then
processed by procmail. Mail is then processed by Spamassassin, messages that
were found to be spam "should" be moved to oblivion (/dev/null), but nothing
happens. I can still marked spam in my inbox.
What should I do
How can one lower the frequency of messages (mails) from Cron Daemon?
The text of the mail:
fetchmail: background fetchmail at 11547 awakened.
I have fetchmail running as a daemon but as I am not connected to the internet
all the time, that's why cron complains.
thanks

When I try to daemonize spamd I get the folowing error:
Cannot assign requested address at /usr/sbin/spamd line 156.
The relative line from the spamd script is:
bind(Server, sockaddr_in($port, $addr)) || die "bind: $!";
Since spamd is not running I assume that even spamc won't run
