I am trying to install Debian Sarge from 14 CD to my brothers
computer. Installation is OK but there is no sound. When I try
to play some sound with 'play sound.wav' nothing happend. No
error reported - no sound on speakers. It does not matter if I
play as user or root.

While using ssh on local network (actualy qemu virtual machine)
I have hard time starting X application on virtual machine and
let it show window on host X window. Starting

I am lucky I can download at
speed 3KB/s so it will take more than 5.5 hour to download (if you pray
hard and link does not break).
What is wrong with using CD that you aready have?

I am having troubles with useing tun/tap network with qemu.
If I start qemu as ordinary user it complains that it can not
connect to tun device. If I run it with 'sudo qemu' it create
tun0 network device and than I can connect to virtual system.
$ ls -l /dev/net/tun
crw-rw 1 root root 10, 200

How can I fix this. Most I need input of latin2 (actually unicode)
characters.

I have installed debian Sarge recently from cd set and found out
that now when I halt computer it go down and print 'Power off'
on terminal and stop there. I want it to swich power off too as it
used to do before I reinstalled. While I was installing I choose to
manually select packages to b
I got my first dvd writer. It write both cdrom and dvd, something
that bother me is that speed for dvd writing is never more than 2x
(device and medium are able to do 6x speed) and with cdrom mostly 8x
only sometimes it manage to get 16x speed (device is capable of 48x).
