Nope that didn't seem to work... my cdrom devices are still not getting created.
I'm just restarting udev... do I have to reboot for the changes to take effect?

I have recently removed discover and hotplug from my unstable system
(since the hardware of this computer isn't going to change) but I did an
lsmod and there is a ton of useless kernel modules loaded...
Does anyone else have this problem? What file do I have to edit so that
those kernel modules

Has anyone been able to get the nvidia drivers to work with the stock

I've compiled the drivers many times before but it just doesn't want to
work with this kernel ... no matter what I do I get unresolved

I was trying to upgrade my system the other day and apt-get upgrade
first tells me that my modutils can't be configured since my kernel
sturcture has changed. I figured nothing of but now it's not just
modutils it's initrd-tools and modconf as well. I tried upgrading to a
new kernel
I have rogers and I'm working fine although my setup is a little
different from yours (2.2.17 kernel, unstable). I used dhcp-client and
here's my dhclient.conf file
send host-name hostname;
and here's my /etc/network/interfaces
iface lo inet loopback
iface eth0 inet dhcp
And everything works

My advice is to stick with the gnome packages from unstable... I ran
Ximian debs for a while and I had nothing but problems. I've been
running unstable for the last couple of months and have had no major
problems.
