I've got a desktop machine running a reasonably up-to-date build of
unstable. In that machine, I've got a DVD-ROM drive as well as a DVD-RW.
Is there a simple way to use these drives to copy home movies, recorded
onto DVD-R media with a VHS/DVD deck?

For quite a while now, I've been running a software RAID5 using external
firewire disks on a Debian Unstable system. The exact architecture was

I'm running Debian sid on an ia32 computer, with everything up to date,
and printing via CUPS to an HP Laserjet 4m. When I print from GNOME
