hi everyone,
i'm trying to learn rcs to assist my uni project, however I'm unsure about
the procedure to roll back versions (infact i think i may have found a
bug).
Say I have node_relations.c at version 1.4, but its stuffed. So i want to
go back to version 1.2.1.1 (turned into .1.1 because i
hi again,
well i have a more general question this time:
why should I care if the mirror is not completely correct (ie dependencies
and all that)? why should the cd-guy care if dependencies are not
correctly filled?
i would like to create a set of cds that mirrors my mirror, then
periodically

i'm trying to get staroffice to run on my potato system by pointing it
towards slink libraries installed to my home dir. i've set the
LD_LIBRARY_PATH to point to the right dirs and it seems to go ok, except
for one thing:
/usr/share/Office51/bin/soffice.bin: error in loading shared libraries:
hi,
i just upgraded my potato today and now my staroffice is suffering from
unrecoverable errors. my question is: how do i narrow down which library
is causing the problem? can i install some of slink's old libraries
somewhere (like its libc6), and force soffice to use those libraries?
thanks,
hi,
my lovely 17 monitor has a grainy-liney appearance when in 1280x1024
mode, however its perfectly clear under windows. i have the .ini file that
windows uses but am unsure how to set up the x11 modelines... can anyone
help?
thanks,
Paul
If you can't make it good, make it look good.
generate the mode lines for you automatically.
Of course, if this is what you did shrug

hi,
i had some problems with my smbmounts when the NT server would reboot

i've got a whole pile of 80 minute writable cds here (I wanted 74 min but
there was no stock), but I have discovered that xcdroast doesn't seem to

should i just try it anyway? can i get the 80 min storage space? is that

hi,
i am looking to buy a new system but I need to know if linux supports the
onboard video and sound that comes with the slot 1 boards (this one is
Intel).
does anyone know out there? please respond before friday!
thanks heaps,

Short answer: do nothing.
I don't know what the apne.o module is. But it sounds as if you
may be looking for a problem that isn't there.
If you're compiling a kernel, you've got kernel-package, kernel-source
and pcmcia-source installed. Once you've configured the kernel in the
usual way
does anyone know if the kernel supports this card? i only saw options for
the de-600 to de-620.
I use one. It says NE2000 compatible when you plug it in.
I guess people get bored with adding new model numbers
when they're basically similar underneath.
What's far more important is the

hi,
the problem with my evil crt1.o file that was hosed in a 'previous
episode' from a bad filesystem crash through power cut via microsoft
button (locked console and no chance to telnet for hours), and is still
not fixed. just got some time to try again, so this time i'm trying

hi,
I found that a file from libc6-dev has been hosed with the system, its
permissions are now:
c---r- 1 123208224 32, 48 Jan 30 1987 /usr/lib/crt1.o
but I can't do anything with it...
c69:~# rm /usr/lib/crt1.o

hi,
I just had my system hosed, but was able to recover in an hour with
minimal (? will find out soon if not!) damage... however I'm getting the
ol'
INIT: Id 2 respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes.
Now I know WHY its doing this: my /dev/tty2 was hosed with the system, and
I don't know
. then, read the
/dev/MAKEDEV script and the MAKEDEV(8) man page. i think the command
line you want is:
cd /dev ; ./MAKEDEV tty
but i'm not sure...you should double check with the script and the man
page.

hi,
i'm the one who just hosed his system, and the latest problem is getting a
/etc/vga/libvga.config file to install.
for some reason, the whole /etc/vga directory was gone after the hosing,
so I do as I did for all packages that were partially stuffed:
dpkg --force-depends -r svgalibg1
hi,
i have an ACER CD-912E (seems to be a very generic/cheap cdrom, but works
fine), but linux has always detected it as:

it seems obvious to me, but whenever i am missing a program like startx,

zgrep xterm Contents-i386.gz | less

hi,
i'm wondering if others have this problem:
i run kernel 2.2.6, so i have to use smbfsx, to mount service:

and it tells me:

Have you tried escaping the apostrophy? Also, you can use forward slashes

hi,
yeah it works under slink fine... but i'm wondering if that is all they
changed... apart from some small user interface diffs in the configuration
section, nothing seems to have changed... i still see the little
annoyances from 5.0...
